CULTURE
ANTI-MISANDRY
Misandry is a hatred toward or prejudice against men. Anti-misandry is opposed to hatred toward men.
ANTI-RACISM
The active, involved, and consistent combating of racism and the likewise active, involved, and consistent promotion of racial tolerance.
CULTURAL APPROPRIATION
The adoption of an element or elements of a minority culture or identity by a dominant culture or identity- the minority group having been systematically oppressed by the dominant culture. It’s extremely offensive to the minority culture especially as the people employing their traditions for fashion or fun are ignorant of the culture’s background and oppression.
FEMININITY
A set of characteristics, behaviors and roles associated with girls or women.
GENDER NORMS
The expectations and assumptions placed on a person due to their perceived gender, i.e. women wearing makeup, men doing manual labor, or non-binary people assuming an androgynous appearance. Typically norms exist regardless of a person's true wants, needs, or identity.
INDIGENOUS PEOPLES
Ethnic groups who are the original or earliest known inhabitants to an area as opposed to those who settled, colonized, or occupied the area more recently.
MARGINALIZED
Marginalization is pushing a certain group to the outskirts of society and deeming that group less important. Marginalized groups are treated as peripheral.
MASCULINITY
A set of characteristics, behaviors and roles typically associated with boys or men. Traditional masculinity to the point where men are discouraged from expressing themselves in any other way is what is known as “toxic masculinity."

Prejudice or hatred toward women.
NEOCOLONIALISM
The use of political, social, cultural, or other pressures to exert control over foreign governments - specifically those in former dependencies.
OPPRESSION
The degradation of one group by another due to an unjust power dynamic characterized by the malicious and systematic wielding of this power to force compliance from a disadvantaged demographic.
PATRIARCHY
most formally, a system of government or religion that traces lineage through the male line. Today, it is often used to describe an oppressive social system that grants more power to men than women in all spheres of life.
RACISM
Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism against a person or group because of their membership as a certain racial/ethnic group, typically from the belief that this other race is inferior to one's own. Racism is the result of a power complex between a dominant/oppressive group and a minority/oppressed group. It can often become systematic and or institutionalized.
SEXISM
Prejudice and discrimination towards someone's gender or sex. Mostly affects women through gender roles and stereotypes. The term surfaced in the 2960s during the Second Wave Feminism.
