Amplify, Educate, Empower - When Platforms Combine
The Fem Word is proud to announce its newest partner - Akytech Consulting, LLC. With the support of this company, we are able to further our mission to empower women everywhere.
When we think of a “platform” we imagine a stage, perhaps, or a publication like The Fem Word. Platforms are places where people make their voices heard - they are launch-pads from which messages disseminate.
Rarely do we imagine companies as platforms, especially those whose work is primarily done “behind the scenes.” But Akytech Consulting is as much a platform as TFW. The magic is in the meaning assigned to a company by its values and the people who exemplify them.
Meenakshi Arora, CEO of Akytech, knows the value of messages. As a woman of South Asian descent and a woman of color, she has worked hard to be heard in her industry. She has encountered the dynamics that often seek to silence women; women of color are often especially accustomed to the attempts of others to “tone down” their voices to fit existing narratives.
In a 2020 article written in conjunction with TFW’s parent company, Ms. Media, she spoke about diversity initiatives and the truths many of them hide beneath glossy reports and infographics.
“The numbers are often touted as positive,” she said, “but when you peel back the layers of the data you determine that they are not telling the entire story. [The] phenomenon of discomfort that [women of color] are feeling across the country needs to be felt inside every professional environment. We have to stop painting a perfect picture and deal with the reality.”
Through her leadership Meenakshi seeks not only to acknowledge the “entire story,” but also to rewrite it and give others the power to do the same. The picture may not be perfect, but Meenakshi and women like her are still determined to pick up a brush and have their say in what it depicts. She believes that partnering with initiatives like TFW is a powerful way to make that goal happen in a big way.
When it comes to the mission of The Fem Word, a big part of educating is amplifying. Ms. Samtani believes that “storytelling is what unifies us as human beings. It’s what inspires us.”
Her hope is that partnerships like the one she and Meenakshi are forging through their organizations will become commonplace in the near future - a future increasingly populated by women, all of whom have stories to tell and messages to impart.
“I’m always looking for ways to increase the impact TFW can have on the world, and partnerships like the one with Akytech are such an empowering tool for lifting up women and girls all over the world.”
As our communities and societies become ever more interconnected, partnerships will become one of the most powerful tools for fostering real, lasting change in our everyday lives. That mission forms the cornerstone of both Akytech and The Fem Word’s dual mission to shift conversations and shake up our ways of thinking about gender and its impact on our lives.
From Friendship To Alliance - When Bold Women Get Bolder
Women are by nature amplifiers. Novelist and poet William Golding once said this of us: “Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. [...] She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.” The work of women as storytellers is clear evidence of our power to take one voice and make it many, to take a quiet, uncertain message and make it bold, loud, and influential.
When companies with conscience put their weight behind platforms with potential, the result is often staggering. This is the future Monika and Meenakshi envision, and it’s one their employees, team members, and supporters all share.
“We’re so excited to partner with Meenakshi and the Akytech Consulting team to amplify stories in new and exciting ways,” says TFW co-founder Natasha Samtani. “Building networks is at the heart of what we do here, and in the case of the TFW x Akytech partnership there is a huge network of women and other allies standing behind this common vision.”
Amplifying stories is an art that relies on courage, conviction, and character. Meenakshi, Monika, and their team members have all of these in spades, and by telling the stories of bold women in creative spaces - spaces like the Federal Government, IT Consulting and Tech industries, politics, and business leadership - they hope to change the world one voice at a time.
The future is bright, and it is bold. When two platforms share their potential, it expands to encompass more than any one individual could ever dream of. As with every story, with every narrative and picture handed down from one generation to the next, this is one that will reveal itself with time.
We can’t wait to witness all the wonders this story can do.
